The White Stuff

Snow has hit Chicago.

Put on gloves, you idiot!

Yesterday I mentioned how full of Christmas spirit I find myself to be and I think a good part of that comes from the snowfall we had on Friday night/Saturday.  The first snowfall of the season is always somewhat magical for me and the fact I could share it with my mom made it even better.  We got somewhere around 5-6 inches (I’m really bad at guesstimating snowfall), which was enough to cover all of the ground and surrounding areas.  It was also enough to cover my mom’s car, which I scraped for her before she left Sunday.  I’m such a sweetheart.  I also hope that’s the last time this winter I have to scrape the windshield of a car.

Just one more reason I love not owning a car…though it did give me a good bit of exercise and I even broke a sweat.  That might have had something to do with the ten pounds of clothing I was wearing to brace the wind but whatever.

I know last year I bitched quite a lot about the snow and I’m sure this year I’ll be doing much of the same thing but right now I thoroughly enjoy sitting at the window in my apartment and just looking at it. Walking in it…not so much, but looking at it is nice.  Maybe the only times it snows this winter will be times when I can stay in and watch it without actually having to go out and deal with the cold.  That would be nice.  What do you say, Old Man Winter – we got a deal?

I can hear him laughing now.
